Discussion: Plans and priorities

Richard Cooper

The current EPSRC grant which supports COGENT development ends in September 1999. David Sutton's contract has already expired. COGENT therefore faces an uncertain future. If COGENT is to be viable as a modelling tool we need to consider ways of: 1) reaching a wider audience; and 2) financing the continued maintenance and development of the system. The COGENT group is currently seriously considering two plans: the development of a cognitive modelling textbook (in which a range of models would be implemented in COGENT), and the marketing of COGENT. This session will allow guided discussion of issues arising from these possibilities.
