During the five years to October 1995, the Ad Rem project attempted to tackle some of the methodological issues arising within computational cognitive psychology. The primary focus of the project was on the development of a sound and systematic methodology comparable to that which guides empirical work in the field. The final phase of this project saw the development of a prototype graphical modelling environment that aimed to support (and hopefully encourage) improved modelling methodology.
That environment grew into COGENT, the development and dissemination of which was funded between September 1996 and March 2002 by the UK's EPSRC.
As of late 2002, COGENT is continuing to be developed, although the pace of development is slower than over the last 10 years.
